Statement of Need:In today’s fast-paced world, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Automation, and Digital Media are reshaping the global workforce—and with it, the future of opportunity. Yet for too many students from underserved communities, that future feels out of reach.African Americans make up just 8% of the tech workforce and only 3% of executive roles. And while jobs in data science, software development, and cybersecurity are projected to grow by 14% by 2032, Black representation in these fields is expected to grow by only 8%. The gap is widening—and it starts early, with limited access to STEM programs, mentors, and hands-on training.UthTek (pronounced “Youth Tech”) is here to change that. Our nonprofit equips students with future-proof skills across AI, Robotics, Automation, and Digital Media (ARAD). From high-level AI prompting and voiceover tools to video production, esports broadcasting, animation, and game design—students don’t just learn about emerging tech, they use it to build real-world projects. We take our Mobile Technology Center directly to schools, community centers, and events—meeting students where access is most limited. Through project-based learning and mentorship from industry professionals, students gain job-ready skills, creative confidence, and a vision for what’s possible. We’re also building partnerships and alliances with organizations, companies, and individuals who believe in our vision and want to help shape a brighter future for our youth. In our first year, UthTek will serve 50 students, with plans to expand statewide and beyond. Our mission is to prepare youth for high-paying jobs or launch them as tomorrow’s tech entrepreneurs. The future of technology should reflect the diversity of our society. With your support, we can ensure every student has the opportunity not just to participate in the future—but to lead it.UthTek: Future-proof skills for future-ready students.
